A clinical pharmacist opportunity is available for a 13-week contract at a reputable medical center in Hampton, VA, starting Tuesday, May 26. This position involves rotating shifts, offering variety and dynamic workflow within the inpatient setting.

Key responsibilities include verifying medication orders, entering orders accurately, and managing complex pharmaceutical therapies. The role requires proficiency in pain-controlled analgesia, antibiotics, and monitoring drug interactions to ensure patient safety and optimal therapeutic outcomes.

Qualifications and Desired Experience:

• Minimum 1 year of inpatient pharmacy experience required
• Strong skills in intravenous (IV) medication administration
• Experience with pain control analgesia and antibiotics management
• Knowledge of drug interactions and medication order verification
• EMR proficiency with EPIC system (firm requirement)
• Preferred experience with chemotherapy, anticoagulants, pharmacokinetic dosing, and renal dosing
• Prior travel pharmacy experience is an advantage

Responsibilities:

• Verify and enter medication orders within the EMR system accurately
• Monitor patients’ medication regimens, including complex therapies like chemotherapy and anticoagulants
• Collaborate with healthcare team members to optimize pharmaceutical care
• Utilize expertise for pharmacokinetic and renal dosing when applicable
• Ensure adherence to hospital policies and clinical guidelines
