A unique opportunity is available for a Clinical Pharmacist to provide dedicated coverage in a beautiful mountain hospital setting approximately 75 miles from Los Angeles. This Per Diem position entails stepping into the role as the sole pharmacist during a planned two-week leave in April or May, with flexible timing anytime after April 19th. This contract is signed and ready for immediate consideration.

Location:

  • Hospital situated in a scenic town near Big Bear Lake, CA
  • Address: 41870 Garstin Dr, Big Bear Lake, CA 92315

Schedule:

  • Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM (full-time hours during the contract)
  • On-call coverage for weekends and after hours (infrequent call-ins expected)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Verify and review medication orders for accuracy and patient safety within an 18-bed Med-Surg unit and 10-bed Emergency Department
  • Compound sterile medications including IV admixtures and unit dose medications (no chemotherapy or hazardous drugs onsite)
  • Provide clinical medication therapy monitoring and recommend adjustments to physicians and nursing staff
  • Respond to emergency codes as needed
  • Maintain regulatory compliance with hospital policies, state and federal laws, and sterile compounding standards
  • Support inventory and data entry, with technician assistance available during the contract
  • May assist in filling Pyxis machines at two local family health centers

Qualifications:

  • Active, clear California Pharmacist License required
  • Minimum 2+ years of inpatient pharmacy experience required
  • Experience with CSPI/Evident and Pyxis software preferred; training provided if necessary
  • Prior experience as the sole pharmacist in a clinical setting is highly valued
  • Ability to cover all on-call hours during the assignment

Travel and Housing:

  • Travel expenses including mileage and housing costs are reimbursed directly by the client as pass-through
