This per diem opportunity is designed for a clinical pharmacist with inpatient and compounding experience who is able to support an 18-bed med-surgery unit and a 10-bed emergency department. The position requires working Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with weekend and after-hours on-call availability.
Key Responsibilities:
- Verify and review medication orders to ensure accuracy, appropriateness, and patient safety.
- Compound sterile medications including IV admixtures and unit dose forms; no chemo or hazardous drugs at this location.
- Provide clinical monitoring and therapeutic recommendations to medical and nursing staff.
- Respond to emergency room codes as needed.
- Maintain regulatory compliance with hospital policies, state, and federal laws, including sterile compounding standards.
- Assist with restocking Pyxis machines at two family health centers in the community.
Qualifications:
- Active and clear California Pharmacist License.
- Minimum of 2 years inpatient pharmacy experience.
- Compounding experience required.
- Familiarity with CPSI/Evident and Pyxis software preferred; training available if needed.
- Experience working as the sole pharmacist in a clinical setting preferred.
- Commitment to fulfill on-call responsibilities during weekends and after hours.
Additional Information: A dedicated pharmacy technician working PRN is available to increase to full-time during the assignment, supporting inventory and data entry tasks to optimize workflow. Travel expenses are passed through as part of the assignment.
