Clinical Pharmacist - Hot Springs National Park, AR

A direct hire opportunity for a clinical pharmacist is available at a leading 359-bed trauma teaching hospital. This facility is one of the largest pediatric medical providers nationally and the only dedicated pediatric medical center in Arkansas. The work environment is fast-paced, collaborative, and supported by a passionate team in a state-of-the-art facility. The position offers 8-hour day shift schedules from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, with an immediate start.

Key Responsibilities:

• Compound and dispense prescribed medications according to physician instructions.
• Consult with medical staff regarding potential drug interactions, patient history, and medication use.
• Respond to patient inquiries about dosages and medication instructions.
• Maintain accurate pharmacy records ensuring compliance with regulatory and hospital policies.
• Verify medication doses based on patient diagnosis, weight, age, and body surface area.
• Identify and address drug therapy issues such as allergies, interactions, and adverse reactions.
• Evaluate the appropriateness of selected drugs, initiate therapy when necessary, and recommend cost-effective alternatives.
• Manage non-formulary drug needs and ensure the accurate dispensing of medications, including proper labeling.
• Monitor patients to optimize therapeutic outcomes and collaborate with healthcare providers.
• Participate in patient, technician, pharmacist, and student education, including discharge planning.
• Conduct drug information services and assist in drug utilization reviews.
• Manage medication orders with wholesalers and manufacturers, handling back orders and substitutions.
• Coordinate loan/borrow processes, recalls, and inventory management.

Qualifications / Desired Experience:

• Active Arkansas pharmacist license.
• Minimum of 2 years inpatient pharmacy experience preferred.
• IV Experience or IV Certification is beneficial.
• Board Certified Pharmacotherapy Specialist (BCPS) designation preferred.
