Support pediatric patient care as a Clinical Pharmacist on the night shift in a leading 359-bed teaching hospital. This role offers a dynamic, team-based environment where you will directly impact medication therapy for hospitalized children. The facility is a trauma level 1 center and one of the largest pediatric medical providers in the country, uniquely serving Arkansas as its sole pediatric medical center.
Schedule & Location:
- Night shifts, 7 days on/7 days off
- 12-hour shifts: Thursday through Wednesday, 7:00 pm – 7:00 am (flexible scheduling available)
- Located in Jacksonville, Arkansas
- Contract position for 13 weeks, with potential for temp to hire
Key Responsibilities:
- Compound and dispense medications according to physician orders
- Consult with medical staff on drug interactions, patient history, and medication use
- Monitor and verify dosing accuracy based on pediatric parameters such as weight and age
- Identify and resolve drug therapy issues, including allergies, interactions, and adverse reactions
- Recommend cost-effective and clinically appropriate alternative therapies
- Maintain accurate pharmacy records in compliance with regulations and hospital policies
- Educate patients, pharmacy technicians, pharmacists, and students as part of patient care and discharge planning
- Participate in drug information management and utilization review activities
- Manage medication ordering, inventory, and substitution processes to ensure availability
Qualifications & Desired Experience:
- Current Arkansas pharmacist license preferred; candidates in the licensing process considered (temporary license available)
- Minimum of 2 years inpatient pharmacy experience preferred
- IV therapy experience or IV certification preferred
- Board Certified Pharmacotherapy Specialist (BCPS) preferred
