This opportunity seeks a clinical pharmacist to provide comprehensive inpatient pharmaceutical services at a medical center in Northern California, starting June 1 for a 13-week contract. The pharmacist will work varied shifts including days, with options for 5 eight-hour or 4 ten-hour shifts per week, encompassing some weekends. Experience with Cerner EMR and inpatient pharmacy practice within the last 3 years is required.

Key responsibilities include management and oversight of drug procurement, distribution, storage, and administration in compliance with state and federal regulations. The pharmacist will serve as Pharmacist in Charge, maintaining pharmacy licensure, policies, procedures, and quality assurance protocols. Additional duties involve reviewing inpatient medication orders for safety and accuracy, managing pharmacy inventory including controlled substances, providing drug information to healthcare staff, and ensuring security and proper disposal of hazardous drugs.

Essential qualifications and attributes:

  • Recent inpatient pharmacy experience (within 3 years)
  • Proficiency with Cerner electronic medical records
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to collaborate professionally with clinical teams and hospital staff
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements for hospital pharmacy operations
  • Commitment to patient confidentiality and ethical pharmacy practice
  • Experience managing pharmacy inventory, including specialty box and crash cart maintenance
  • Comfortable providing weekend retail pharmacy coverage and on-call support during shifts
