Clinical Pharmacist in Long Beach, CA

A clinical pharmacist position is available on a contract basis in the Long Beach, CA area to support a short-staffed hospital environment. This role requires a flexible pharmacist ready to adapt to varying weekly hours and support both the main hospital and nearby sister facilities within a 10–15 mile radius.

Key Responsibilities:

• Verify medication orders accurately and efficiently
• Provide oversight and guidance to pharmacy technicians
• Consult regularly with nursing staff and physicians to optimize patient care
• Manage pharmacokinetics and related clinical services
• Utilize electronic order entry systems (Paragon/Allscripts) for medication management
• Operate Pyxis automated dispensing cabinets to ensure safe and timely medication distribution

Qualifications and Experience:

• Current pharmacist license in the state
• Proven experience in clinical pharmacy settings
• Familiarity with Paragon and Allscripts systems is highly desirable
• Ability to work flexibly with variable hours, ranging from approximately 16 to 40 hours per week
• Willingness to float between nearby hospital sites as needed

Location: Long Beach, CA, with occasional work at sister hospitals within a short driving distance

Schedule:

• Variable day and afternoon shifts
• Hours are not guaranteed and may fluctuate from week to week
