A highly skilled clinical pharmacist is sought for a contract position in outpatient oncology infusion, providing crucial pharmaceutical care in a dynamic healthcare setting. This role offers the opportunity to work within a well-regarded health system in the Los Angeles area, primarily focusing on chemotherapy and oncology treatments.

Location: Los Angeles, CA
Schedule: Monday to Friday, 5:00 AM – 2:00 PM
Duration: 13 weeks+ contract
Setting: Outpatient Oncology Infusion
Technology: EPIC electronic medical records

Key Responsibilities:

  • Accurately verify and check intravenous (IV) medication preparations and orders, ensuring patient safety and compliance with established protocols.
  • Apply extensive knowledge of USP 797 and USP 800 standards related to sterile compounding and hazardous drug handling.
  • Manage chemotherapy and oncology infusion medications, collaborating closely with medical teams to optimize patient care.
  • Utilize EPIC system for documentation, order verification, and clinical interventions within the infusion setting.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of oncology pharmacy practices and participate in continuous quality improvement initiatives.

Desired Qualifications and Experience:

  • Licensed Pharmacist with valid credentials to practice in California.
  • Solid oncology/chemotherapy pharmacy experience with confidence in sterile IV admixture checking.
  • Strong familiarity with USP 797 and 800 guidelines for sterile and hazardous drug compounding.
  • Previous experience working in outpatient oncology infusion or a similar clinical environment.
  • Proficient in EPIC or comparable healthcare IT systems.
  • Ability to work day shifts as scheduled, demonstrating reliability and strong communication skills.
