An opportunity is available for a skilled Independent Retail Pharmacist to provide comprehensive pharmaceutical care in a community-focused setting. This role is critical in delivering personalized healthcare, ensuring the safe and effective use of medications, and fostering strong relationships within the local population. Reporting directly to the Chief Clinical Officer, the pharmacist will oversee all retail pharmaceutical services, including drug procurement, distribution, storage, and administration by pharmacy staff.

Location: McArthur, CA
Type: Contract (13 weeks)
Schedule: Monday – Friday, 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM

Key Responsibilities

  • Compound and dispense prescribed medications accurately, ensuring patient safety.
  • Review prescriptions for accuracy and compliance.
  • Supervise pharmacy personnel, maintaining compliance with legal pharmacist-to-technician ratios.
  • Counsel patients on drug interactions, side effects, dosage, and storage.
  • Manage pharmacy data including patient records, inventory, and third-party insurance issues.
  • Maintain quality assurance protocols, including controlled substances security and hazardous waste disposal.
  • Build and sustain positive relationships with healthcare providers and community members.
  • Address and resolve customer inquiries and medication incidents professionally.
  • Engage in continuing education to stay current with pharmacy laws, best practices, and new treatments.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Valid pharmacist license to practice in California.
  • Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy or Pharm.D. from an accredited institution.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Adherence to federal, state, and local pharmacy regulations.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with proven collaboration ability.
  • Organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple responsibilities efficiently.
  • Demonstrated professionalism and positive patient interaction skills.

Working Conditions

  • Ability to sit, stand, bend, lift (up to 25 lbs), and move throughout the day.
  • Flexibility to work beyond scheduled hours and assist in other roles temporarily as needed.
