An Independent Retail Pharmacist role is available to provide personalized pharmaceutical care at a community-focused retail pharmacy. Reporting directly to the Chief Clinical Officer, this position plays a vital part in ensuring safe and effective medication use while fostering strong relationships with patients and healthcare providers. The role requires oversight of all retail pharmaceutical services, including drug procurement, distribution, storage, and administration by pharmacy staff.

Location: Mcarthur, CA
Shift Hours: Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM
Job Type: 13-week contract
Start Date: ASAP

Key Responsibilities:

  • Compound, dispense, and review prescribed medications for accuracy and appropriateness.
  • Counsel patients on drug interactions, dosages, side effects, and safe storage.
  • Supervise pharmacy staff involved in preparing and labeling pharmaceuticals.
  • Manage pharmacy inventory, records, and quality assurance procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with controlled substance regulations and hazardous waste disposal policies.
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals to optimize patient care.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to professional standards and company policies.
  • Assist in training interns and pharmacy personnel, maintaining appropriate staff ratios.
  • Address and resolve third-party billing and prescription rejections promptly.
  • Pursue continuous education to stay informed about pharmacy laws, innovations, and best practices.

Qualifications / Desired Experience:

  • Licensed to practice pharmacy in California.
  • Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy or Pharm.D. from an accredited institution.
  • Current BLS certification.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills combined with excellent organizational abilities.
  • Capable of working effectively and collaboratively at all organizational levels.
  • Commitment to providing exceptional, patient-centered care within an independent pharmacy setting.

Working Conditions:

  • Ability to sit, stand, bend, walk, and lift up to 25 lbs intermittently during shifts.
  • Flexibility to work beyond scheduled hours and temporarily fill other positions if needed.
