An infusion pharmacist role is available to provide part-time support (2-3 days per week) with a Monday through Friday schedule from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Located in Merced, CA, this opportunity is ideal for candidates seeking an ongoing position starting ASAP. The director is eager to train candidates who are recently graduated (within the last 2-3 years) with IV/TPN experience gained during APPEs or internships, as well as those looking to expand their skills working with IVs/TPNs in a hospital setting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review physician/prescriber orders to ensure correct dosage, drug choice, administration route, and drug interactions relative to diagnosis.
- Maintain comprehensive patient databases including current height, weight, medical history, lab results, and concurrent medications.
- Assist with documentation compliance according to state, federal, and accrediting bodies’ requirements (e.g., JCAHO, ACHC).
- Order, review, and interpret clinical lab tests in collaboration with nurses and physicians.
- Provide clinical and technical support to healthcare team members and patients.
- Help implement pharmacy policies and procedures in coordination with the pharmacist-in-charge.
- Train and supervise pharmacy technicians, interns, and laboratory personnel.
- Direct supervision of sterile compounding and quality assurance programs, including validation and environmental testing.
- Document all communications with healthcare providers and caregivers accurately.
- Promote patient and staff safety by adhering to sound pharmacy practices.
- Educate patients and caregivers on drug therapy instructions.
Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Strong IV/infusion and clinical pharmacy experience is essential.
- Prior home infusion pharmacy experience is highly preferred.
- Valid California pharmacy license in good standing.
- Familiarity with CareTend pharmacy system is beneficial.
- Excellent communication skills and a positive, team-oriented attitude.
