Clinical Pharmacist in Norfolk, VA

A Clinical Pharmacist is needed for a 13-week contract at a reputable medical center located in Norfolk, VA. This role involves providing inpatient pharmaceutical care with a focus on safe and effective medication management across various clinical settings. The position requires hands-on experience in critical areas such as IV therapy and order verification to support optimal patient outcomes.

Schedule:

• Rotating shifts
• Start date: Tuesday, May 26 (day after Labor Day)
• Contract duration: 13 weeks

Key Responsibilities:

• Verify medication orders accurately, ensuring patient safety and compliance
• Manage pain-controlled analgesia and administer IV medications effectively
• Monitor antibiotic therapies and intervene on drug interactions when necessary
• Utilize EMR systems, specifically EPIC, for thorough documentation and order entry
• Support chemotherapy protocols and anticoagulant management when applicable
• Apply pharmacokinetic and renal dosing principles to optimize drug therapies

Qualifications & Experience:

• Minimum of 1 year inpatient pharmacy experience required
• IV therapy expertise, pain-controlled analgesia, antibiotics, drug interactions, order entry, and medication order verification are essential skills
• Preferred experience includes chemotherapy, anticoagulants, pharmacokinetic dosing, and renal dosing adjustments
• Experience with EPIC EMR system is mandatory
• Previous travel pharmacy experience is preferred, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability
