A clinical pharmacist opportunity is available at a 200+ bed community hospital in the Alexandria, LA area. This contract role offers an immediate start with a duration of 13 weeks, providing a dynamic work environment within a well-established hospital setting. The position includes a varied and rotating schedule designed for four 10-hour shifts per week, with potential shift times at 6:00 AM to 4:30 PM, 7:00 AM to 5:30 PM, or 12:30 PM to 11:00 PM, including every other weekend coverage.

Responsibilities include:

• Order verification to ensure medication accuracy and patient safety
• Supervising pharmacy technicians to maintain efficient and compliant pharmacy operations
• Consulting with physicians and nurses to optimize patient medication therapy
• Managing pharmacokinetics to tailor medication dosing for individual patient needs
• Utilizing IT systems such as EPIC and Pyxis for medication management and documentation

Desired qualifications and experience:

• Active pharmacist license in the applicable state
• Strong clinical pharmacy background with hospital experience
• Familiarity with EPIC electronic health records and Pyxis automated dispensing systems
• Excellent communication skills for multidisciplinary collaboration
• Current BLS certification via the American Heart Association
