Clinical Pharmacist in Portsmouth, VA

A clinical pharmacist opportunity is available for a 13-week assignment at a medical center located near Portsmouth, VA. This role offers pharmacy professionals the choice of evening or overnight shifts, providing flexibility to suit your scheduling preferences.

Schedule Options:

• Evening Shift: 3:00 PM – 11:30 PM
• Overnight Shift: 8:30 PM – 7:30 AM (Monday to Thursday)
• Overnight Weekend: 7:30 PM – 7:30 AM (Friday to Sunday) with a 7-on/7-off rotation

Essential Qualifications:

• Active VA pharmacy license at the time of application is mandatory
• Minimum 1 year of inpatient pharmacy experience
• Proficiency with EPIC electronic medical records for medication order entry and verification
• Experience with intravenous (IV) therapies, pain-controlled analgesia, antibiotics, drug interactions, and order verification

Preferred Skills:

• Exposure to chemotherapy medication handling
• Knowledge of anticoagulants
• Expertise in pharmacokinetic and renal dosing
• Previous travel pharmacy assignments are a plus

Key Responsibilities:

• Verify and process medication orders in the inpatient setting accurately
• Manage complex medication regimens including IV medications and pain management therapies
• Collaborate effectively with healthcare teams to ensure safe and effective pharmacologic care
• Utilize EPIC for precise documentation and medication administration tracking
