Clinical Pharmacist in Portsmouth, VA

A clinical pharmacist position is available for an inpatient hospital setting, offering the choice between evening or overnight shifts. This 13-week contract assignment begins Monday, April 20, at a medical center in Portsmouth, VA.

Schedule Options:

• Evening Shift: 3:00 PM – 11:30 PM
• Overnight Shift: 8:30 PM – 7:30 AM Monday through Thursday; 7:30 PM – 7:30 AM Friday through Sunday (7 nights on, 7 nights off)

Key Responsibilities:

• Verify and enter medication orders accurately
• Manage drug interactions and ensure safe medication usage
• Administer IV medications, pain-controlled analgesia, and antibiotics
• Utilize clinical judgment in anticoagulant management, pharmacokinetic dosing, and renal dosing (preferred)
• Apply chemotherapy knowledge (preferred)
• Document and chart using EPIC electronic medical records system

Required Qualifications:

• Current Virginia pharmacy license at time of application (mandatory)
• Minimum 1 year of inpatient pharmacy experience
• Proficiency with EPIC EMR system (mandatory)
• Strong background in IV therapy, pain management, antibiotics, and drug interaction monitoring
• Prior travel pharmacy experience is a plus
