A clinical pharmacist position is available for per diem coverage specializing in home infusion services. The role requires proven expertise with sterile compounding and intravenous therapy, supporting patient care through careful pharmaceutical preparation and communication with healthcare providers.
Location:
- Raleigh, NC
Schedule/Hours:
- 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday
- Coverage periods: April 14–22, June 13–25, July 29–August 5
Key Responsibilities:
- Verify pharmaceutical products and drugs entering the clean room for sterile compounding, ensuring accuracy against batch records.
- Perform final verification of compounded sterile preparations (CSP) for correct labeling, fill amount, and drug use before release.
- Inspect all outgoing shipments, confirming completeness of medications and medical supplies per delivery tickets.
- Communicate with physicians’ offices, field nurses, and patients regarding drug regimens, inventory status, drug reactions, and abnormal laboratory results.
- Conduct follow-up calls with patients to coordinate medication deliveries, check inventory, monitor adherence, and report concerns to management.
- Handle inbound calls from medical offices, nursing agencies, and patients to address pharmaceutical inquiries.
Qualifications/Desired Experience:
- Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy required; Doctor of Pharmacy or Master’s of Science in Pharmacy preferred.
- Currently licensed as a registered pharmacist in North Carolina.
- At least two years recent experience in an acute-care setting or one year in home infusion therapy.
- Strong knowledge of intravenous admixture services and intravenous therapy.
- Proficiency with CPR+ software is essential.
