Clinical Pharmacist in Santa Barbara, CA

A critical clinical pharmacy position is available in an infusion pharmacy setting in Santa Barbara, CA. This contract opportunity offers Monday through Friday day shifts supporting oncology patient care through comprehensive clinical pharmacy services.

In this role, the clinical pharmacist enhances patient-centered care by working alongside a multidisciplinary oncology team, patients, and caregivers. Responsibilities include providing cancer therapy education, monitoring treatment toxicity, and managing supportive care to optimize outcomes. You will collaborate closely with oncology providers to assist in treatment decisions, ensure adherence to safety protocols, and serve as a resource for evidence-based pharmacologic therapies and clinical services.

Key duties include:

• Prospectively reviewing patient charts to identify and prevent medication-related issues
• Evaluating treatment appropriateness and effectiveness based on current guidelines and literature
• Discussing therapeutic options tailored to disease stages including initial therapy or relapse/refractory cases
• Personalizing treatment plans and optimizing drug therapies to align with individual patient needs
• Monitoring and managing adverse drug reactions to ensure patient safety
• Providing education to both providers and patients about cancer therapies and management strategies

Qualifications:

• Valid California Pharmacist license is required
• Previous experience in oncology pharmacy practice is preferred to navigate the complexities of cancer treatment
• Strong knowledge of pharmacologic principles and evidence-based oncology therapies
