Critical Access Hospital Setting
3x12 Hour Day Shifts | 06:30 AM – 7:00 PM
We are seeking a skilled Travel Pharmacist for a 13-week assignment in a critical access hospital setting with a small patient census (maximum of 25 patients). This role offers a highly hands-on inpatient pharmacy experience in a close-knit clinical environment where pharmacists play an essential role in daily patient care.
This is an excellent opportunity for a pharmacist who enjoys autonomy, direct clinical involvement, and working closely with physicians and nursing staff in a rural acute care setting.
Assignment Details
Travel contract: 13 weeks (with potential extension)
Facility type: Critical access hospital
Patient census: Up to 25 patients
Schedule: 3x12-hour shifts
Hours: 06:30 AM – 7:00 PM
Day shift coverage only
Key Responsibilities
Perform inpatient order verification and medication order review
Provide clinical support including pharmacokinetics and dosing recommendations
Supervise and support pharmacy technicians in daily operations
Collaborate directly with physicians, nurses, and clinical staff
Ensure safe, accurate, and timely medication dispensing
Support medication management and regulatory compliance within the hospital
Participate in patient-specific consults and clinical decision support
Required Qualifications
Active New Mexico Pharmacist license or ability to obtain a temporary license
Minimum of 2+ years of inpatient hospital pharmacy experience
Strong clinical knowledge in acute care pharmacy practice
Comfortable working in a small hospital environment with broad responsibilities
Ability to work independently while maintaining strong clinical judgment
