Salary: $128,000–$183,000 annually

Position Overview

Soliant Health is hiring for a Staff Pharmacist to join the pharmacy team at a Hospital in beautiful Sitka, Alaska. This position provides an opportunity to work within a collaborative healthcare environment while delivering safe, effective, and cost-conscious medication therapy to patients throughout Southeast Alaska.

The Staff Pharmacist will use independent professional judgment to review, dispense, and monitor medications while providing clinical consultation, patient education, and medication therapy recommendations to patients and healthcare providers.

Key Responsibilities
Review prescriptions and medication orders for appropriateness, safety, legality, interactions, allergies, contraindications, and therapeutic concerns
Verify and accurately dispense medications while maintaining required documentation
Provide patient counseling and education regarding medications, indications, dosing, expected outcomes, and potential concerns
Perform medication therapy management, refill reviews, and drug utilization evaluations
Provide drug information and clinical consultation to physicians, nurses, patients, and other healthcare staff
Supervise and provide direction to pharmacy technicians and support personnel
Participate in quality improvement, medication safety, and clinical initiatives
Assist with formulary management and medication-use system improvements
Participate in pharmacy-run clinics and interdisciplinary patient care activities
Support Long-Term Care consultant pharmacist responsibilities when assigned
Participate in medication regimen reviews, regulatory compliance, controlled substance oversight, and quality improvement activities within Long-Term Care
Educate pharmacy students, technicians, and healthcare staff as needed
Maintain appropriate medication inventory and support overall pharmacy operations


Requirements
Pharm.D. degree from an accredited pharmacy program
Active, unrestricted pharmacist license
Alaska pharmacist license required
BLS certification through the American Heart Association (may be obtained within one year of hire)
Strong clinical knowledge and medication therapy assessment skills
Ability to work independently and exercise sound professional judgment
Strong communication and collaboration skills
Ability to manage interruptions, changing workloads, and emergency requests

Bachelor of Pharmacy candidates: Pharmacists licensed prior to 2003 may be considered with a Bachelor of Pharmacy degree and at least 3 years of hospital and/or ambulatory clinic pharmacy experience.

Preferred Qualifications
Completion of an ASHP-recognized pharmacy residency
Hospital and/or ambulatory care pharmacy experience
Experience with Long-Term Care pharmacy services
Clinical pharmacy experience
Strong medication safety and quality improvement background


Competency Requirements
Clinical Competency Assessment required within 3 months of hire and every 3 years
High Risk Competency required within 3 months of hire and annually
