A clinical pharmacist is needed for an overnight shift at a hospital Pavilion for Women site in the Houston area. This 14-week contract assignment begins on 5/18 and requires working 7 consecutive nights followed by 7 nights off, with shifts from 7:30 PM to 7:30 AM. The position utilizes the EPIC electronic medical record system.
Responsibilities include managing the medication process to promote pharmaceutical care by identifying, preventing, and resolving drug-related problems for patients ranging from newborns to adults. The pharmacist will:
- Ensure all medication doses are appropriate based on patient diagnosis, weight, allergies, and potential drug interactions
- Enter medication orders accurately into the computer system
- Verify medication accuracy to prevent dispensing errors
- Process medication orders and ensure doses are delivered promptly in accordance with established guidelines
- Adhere to and enforce aseptic technique and infection control in the preparation of sterile products
- Complete annual recertification with a minimum score of 90% on aseptic technique and infection control assessments
Qualifications and desired experience:
- Active Texas pharmacist license
- ACPE IV Certification
- Minimum of 2 years inpatient pharmacy experience, with a preference for pediatric experience
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to patient safety
- Familiarity with EPIC EMR system preferred
