Clinical Pharmacist in Whittier, CA

A healthcare facility in the Los Angeles area is seeking a skilled Clinical Pharmacist for a contract position. Location: Whittier, CA (with occasional floating to nearby sister hospitals within 10-15 miles)

Schedule & Hours:

• Variable day and afternoon shifts
• Flexible scheduling required due to fluctuating hours (some weeks ~16 hours, others up to 40 hours)
• Month-to-month contract, initially booked for 8 weeks

Responsibilities:

• Verify medication orders and ensure accuracy and safety
• Oversee pharmacy technicians and guide their workflow
• Consult with nursing staff and physicians on medication therapy and pharmacokinetics
• Utilize Pyxis automated dispensing cabinets effectively
• Perform order entry using Allscripts/Paragon systems
• Support clinical operations for a licensed 117-bed facility with an average daily census of 44 patients

Qualifications & Desired Experience:

• Current pharmacist licensure and credentials
• Experience in hospital or clinical pharmacy settings preferred
• Familiarity with Pyxis automated dispensing cabinets
• Proficiency with order entry systems such as Allscripts and Paragon
• Ability to work independently and provide reliable clinical oversight
• Flexibility to adapt to changing schedules and float to nearby hospital sites as needed
