A leading healthcare facility in the Los Angeles area is seeking a Clinical Pharmacist to provide essential support during a period of staffing shortages. This contract role offers the opportunity to contribute your expertise in a dynamic hospital setting with a licensed bed capacity of 117 and an average daily census of 44 patients.
Responsibilities include:
- Verifying medication orders with precision and attention to detail
- Overseeing pharmacy technicians to ensure smooth pharmacy operations
- Consulting with nurses and physicians to optimize patient care
- Applying pharmacokinetic principles to individualize patient therapy
- Navigating and utilizing the Paragon/Allscripts order entry system efficiently
- Managing automated dispensing cabinets using Pyxis technology
Candidates must be adaptable as hours vary weekly, ranging from approximately 16 to 40 hours, primarily covering day and afternoon shifts. Flexibility in scheduling is critical, as there may be a need to float among sister hospitals located within 10 to 15 miles of Norwalk.
Desired qualifications:
- Current pharmacist licensure in California
- Experience with hospital pharmacy systems, particularly Paragon and Allscripts
- Familiarity with Pyxis automated dispensing cabinets
- Strong communication skills for effective interdisciplinary collaboration
- Ability to supervise and guide pharmacy technician staff
