Director of Pharmacy - Aurora, Illinois

A dynamic leadership opportunity is available for a Director of Pharmacy serving as the Pharmacist in Charge (PIC) at a behavioral health facility specializing in psychiatric care. This contract role begins mid-August and extends until a permanent candidate is hired.

Location:

• New Lenox, Illinois
• Nearest airport: ORD

Schedule:

• Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM
• On-call coverage seven days a week (weekends supported by a part-time pharmacist)

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee daily pharmacy operations including staffing, scheduling, and department meetings
• Maintain high standards of pharmacy practice within a psychiatric specialty setting
• Communicate regularly with management team through emails and monthly one-on-one meetings
• Utilize Omnicell automation system with opportunities for training on order entry procedures
• Ensure compliance with all regulations, excluding sterile compounding procedures
• Apply basic financial knowledge to support pharmacy department budgeting and efficiency

Qualifications & Experience:

• Licensed Pharmacist in Illinois (required)
• Minimum of 3 years management experience preferred
• Prior hospital and behavioral health pharmacy experience strongly preferred
• Proficiency or willingness to learn pharmacy automation tools (Omnicell)
• Strong communication and leadership skills essential

Additional Details:

• The pharmacy team consists of one part-time pharmacist and one pharmacy technician who assist with Omnicell restocking
• Business casual dress code
• Onsite training will be provided to support role transition
