Director of Pharmacy | Aurora, Illinois

This leadership position offers an opportunity to oversee the full spectrum of pharmacy services within an acute care inpatient hospital. The Director of Pharmacy will be responsible for clinical, operational, administrative, staffing, and financial aspects of the pharmacy department. Reporting directly to hospital administration, this role requires collaboration with clinical leadership teams across the organization to ensure excellence in pharmacy practice and patient care.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and manage all pharmacy operations, ensuring regulatory compliance and financial stewardship
• Provide strategic direction and oversight for clinical pharmacy services
• Manage staffing, including full-time, part-time, and PRN pharmacists and technicians
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary hospital teams to support patient outcomes and quality initiatives
• Ensure adherence to Joint Commission and CMS standards
• Foster a culture of continuous improvement and professional development within the pharmacy team

Required Qualifications:

• Active Illinois Pharmacist License in good standing (mandatory, with disclosure and verification of all licenses)
• Minimum three years as Director of Pharmacy in an acute care inpatient hospital
• Minimum three years acute care inpatient hospital pharmacy experience

Preferred Qualifications:

• PharmD degree strongly preferred
• Board Certification a strong plus
• Completion of hospital pharmacy residency preferred
• Experience managing multi-level pharmacy teams
• Strong background in Joint Commission and CMS compliance
• Experience in community or safety net hospital environment a plus
