This leadership pharmacy position entails full responsibility for the clinical, operational, administrative, staffing, and financial management of an acute care inpatient pharmacy department. Reporting directly to hospital administration, the Director will work closely with clinical leadership teams across the organization to ensure optimal pharmacy operations and patient care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and oversee all aspects of pharmacy operations, ensuring compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards
- Manage a diverse pharmacy team, including full-time, part-time, and PRN staff, fostering professional development and high performance
- Collaborate with hospital administration and clinical leaders to support organizational goals and quality improvement initiatives
- Maintain financial oversight of the pharmacy department, including budgeting and resource allocation
- Ensure ongoing compliance with Joint Commission and CMS requirements
- Support community health initiatives, particularly serving an underserved patient population
Required Qualifications:
- Active Illinois Pharmacist License in good standing (non-negotiable; all licenses must be disclosed and verified)
- Minimum three years of Director of Pharmacy experience in an acute care inpatient hospital setting (required)
- Minimum three years of acute care inpatient hospital pharmacy experience (required)
Preferred Qualifications:
- PharmD degree strongly preferred
- Board Certification is a strong plus
- Completion of a hospital pharmacy residency program preferred
- Experience managing multi-level pharmacy teams
- Background in Joint Commission and CMS compliance
- Experience in community or safety net hospital settings is advantageous
Location:
- Aurora, Illinois, with openness to relocation to Chicago’s South Side if not currently local
