Director of Pharmacy in Ballwin, MO

An Interim Director of Pharmacy position is available for a behavioral health facility preparing for its upcoming launch. This role offers the opportunity to play a key leadership part in establishing pharmacy operations in a new inpatient behavioral health setting. The position is contract-based, starting July 6th, with coverage expected for approximately eight weeks or until a permanent hire is made.

Location: Ballwin, MO (near St. Louis)

Schedule:

• Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM
• On-call coverage weekdays and weekends
• Additional support during startup phase may be required

Responsibilities:

• Lead pharmacy setup activities, including procurement and packaging of medications
• Manage stocking of Pyxis automated dispensing systems
• Verify medication orders upon patient admission and onset of care
• Maintain clear communication with the c-suite and Area Director of Pharmacy
• Participate in remote training sessions with the Area Director of Pharmacy
• Oversee pharmacy operations as needed until permanent leadership is in place

Qualifications and Desired Experience:

• Active Missouri Pharmacist License with Medication Therapy Services certification
• Experience in inpatient behavioral health pharmacy practice
• Proficiency with Pyxis site automation systems
• Familiarity or willingness to train on the HCS order entry system
• Strong leadership and organizational skills to manage pharmacy setup independently (no existing pharmacy staff or technician support)
• Preferred local candidate for ease of transition and startup support

Work Environment:

• New pharmacy site with licensed beds starting small but expanding up to 96
• Business casual or scrubs dress code (no specific color requirement)
• Conveniently located near St. Louis Lambert International Airport
