Director of Pharmacy - Bedford, Virginia

An opportunity is available for a Director of Pharmacy (DOP) serving as a working Pharmacist-in-Charge (PIC) at a newly established behavioral hospital in Lynchburg, VA. This role supports a joint venture hospital, created through collaboration between two major health organizations. The position requires an immediate start and offers a contract duration of approximately 13 weeks, with the potential for conversion to permanent employment.

Location: Lynchburg, VA

Schedule:

• Monday through Friday
• Day shifts

Key Responsibilities:

• Function as a working PIC by actively dispensing medications and participating in daily pharmacy operations
• Consult with physicians and nursing staff to optimize patient medication therapy
• Oversee pharmacy technicians and coordinate their activities
• Manage restocking and maintenance of Automated Dispensing Cabinets (ADCs)
• Ensure compliance with pharmacy regulations and hospital policies

Qualifications / Desired Experience:

• Licensed Pharmacist with qualifications to serve as PIC
• Previous experience in a leadership role within a behavioral health or hospital pharmacy setting preferred
• Proven ability to manage pharmacy operations and supervise staff
• Strong communication skills to effectively interact with clinical teams
• Familiarity with automated dispensing systems and medication distribution procedures
