Director of Pharmacy in Carter Lake, IA

An opportunity is available for an Interim Pharmacist in Charge/Director of Pharmacy to provide leadership in an inpatient behavioral health setting. This contract position offers a Monday through Friday schedule with six-hour shifts, beginning mid-May. The assignment duration extends until a permanent professional is hired.

• Council Bluffs, IA

Responsibilities:

• Oversee pharmacy operations within the behavioral health inpatient unit
• Manage medication dispensing, including repackaging processes using systems such as Milt, Medi-dose, or HCL
• Ensure proper loading and maintenance of automated medication dispensing machines
• Run restock reports and maintain accurate inventory records
• Collaborate with healthcare teams to support patient medication needs and safety compliance

Qualifications and Desired Experience:

• Active Iowa pharmacist license required
• Experience as a pharmacy director or pharmacist in charge preferred
• Familiarity with Omnicell medication management systems is highly desirable
• Proficiency in repackaging medications and handling automated dispensing equipment
• Strong organizational and leadership skills to manage pharmacy workflow effectively in a behavioral health environment

• 6 hours per day
