An opportunity is available for an Interim Director of Pharmacy to lead pharmacy operations at a behavioral health facility specializing in inpatient psychiatric care. This contract role begins in early July and will continue for approximately eight weeks until a permanent director is hired.

Location: Chesterfield, MO (St. Louis area)
Schedule:

  • Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM with on-call duties
  • Weekend on-call coverage only

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee pharmacy setup and daily operations in a new behavioral health site licensed for 96 beds, currently starting with 12
  • Manage procurement, packaging, and stocking of medications using Pyxis automation
  • Verify medication orders upon patient admission
  • Maintain clear communication with the C-suite executives and Area Director of Pharmacy
  • Collaborate closely during startup and provide occasional on-call support
  • Participate in remote training to ensure seamless pharmacy integration

Qualifications & Desired Experience:

  • Valid Missouri Pharmacist License with Medication Therapy Services credential
  • Experience in inpatient behavioral health pharmacy settings
  • Proficiency with Pyxis automated medication systems required
  • Familiarity with HCS order entry system preferred; training provided
  • Ability to function independently; no onsite pharmacy technicians available
  • Strong communication and leadership skills

This role requires a local candidate or one willing to commute. Business casual or scrubs attire is appropriate. The nearest airport is St. Louis Lambert International Airport for those considering relocation.
