Director of Pharmacy | Chicago, Illinois

An immediate opportunity exists for a Director of Pharmacy with Pharmacy-in-Charge (PIC) responsibilities at a newly opening behavioral health facility in Peoria, Illinois. This contract role begins around May 25th and is expected to continue through July, with potential extension based on needs. The position oversees all pharmacy operations in a start-up environment, providing essential leadership and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities:

• Serve as the working Director of Pharmacy and PIC, managing pharmacy operations during the facility’s opening phase.
• Oversee medication order approvals and maintain accurate stocking of the Omnicell automated dispensing system.
• Lead Pharmacy & Therapeutics (P&T) committee meetings and contribute to policy and procedure development.
• Provide on-call support after daily shifts and possibly during weekends.
• Ensure regulatory compliance and safe medication practices in a behavioral health setting.
• Implement and manage pharmacy automation systems and order entry processes.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Active Illinois pharmacist licensure is required.
• Prior experience as a Director of Pharmacy in an inpatient hospital setting strongly preferred.
• Familiarity with HCS order entry system and Omnicell automation is highly desirable; training will be provided as needed.
• Experience working independently without technician support is essential.
• Comfortable working within a new facility launch environment.

Schedule:

• Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM with on-call duties following shifts.
• Possible weekend on-call coverage.
