This opportunity offers a leadership role overseeing pharmacy operations in an acute care setting. Located in Nacogdoches, TX, this contract position seeks an Interim Director of Pharmacy licensed in Texas to provide experienced management and clinical oversight. The role requires inpatient acute care and staff management expertise to ensure regulatory compliance and high-quality patient care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the Administrative Director of Pharmacy (DOP), leading pharmacy staff and operations
  • Manage staffing, schedules, and daily leadership activities for pharmacy team members
  • Coordinate pharmacy inservices and ensure ongoing staff education
  • Oversee regulatory compliance and quality assurance initiatives
  • Utilize Cerner/Siemens for order entry and Omnicell automation systems
  • Maintain business casual professionalism in the workplace

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Current, active Texas pharmacist license required
  • Prior experience as a Director of Pharmacy or Pharmacist in Charge (PIC) in an inpatient acute care environment
  • Strong management and leadership skills, with the ability to guide a diverse pharmacy staff including clinical pharmacists and pharmacy technicians
  • Familiarity with compliance standards and quality patient care protocols
  • Experience with Cerner/Siemens order entry systems and Omnicell automation preferred

Schedule:

  • Monday through Friday, day shift totaling 40 hours per week
  • No weekend or on-call responsibilities

This contract role starts August 3rd with an expected duration of at least three months. The team includes one clinical pharmacist, several PRN pharmacists, and pharmacy technicians, all under your leadership. Sterile compounding is not part of the responsibilities.
