An opportunity is available for an experienced Director of Pharmacy to lead pharmacy operations at a newly opening behavioral hospital specializing in inpatient care. This contract role requires hands-on leadership as the Pharmacy-In-Charge (PIC), responsible for establishing and managing pharmacy services in a new facility setting.

Location:

  • Peoria, IL (new facility in behavioral health)

Schedule:

  • Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM
  • On-call coverage after each shift; possible weekend on-call coverage

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the working Director of Pharmacy, overseeing all pharmacy operations
  • Manage the opening and setup of pharmacy services, including stocking Omnicell automation systems
  • Approve medication orders and collaborate with clinical teams
  • Lead Pharmacy & Therapeutics (P&T) meetings and participate in policy development
  • Take charge of all pharmacy functions without technician support
  • Utilize and manage order entry through the HCS system; training will be provided
  • Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and safety standards
  • Contribute to establishing workflow and operational protocols in a behavioral health setting

Qualifications and Preferred Experience:

  • Current Illinois pharmacist licensure is required
  • Demonstrated inpatient hospital pharmacy experience, ideally within behavioral health
  • Familiarity with HCS order entry and Omnicell automation preferred; training available if needed
  • Proven ability to lead pharmacy operations independently as a Director and PIC
  • Strong organizational and communication skills to manage diverse responsibilities in a new facility

This role offers a unique chance to guide pharmacy services in a new behavioral hospital environment, influencing clinical care delivery from the ground up. The contract runs starting in late May through July, with potential adjustments.
