Director of Pharmacy in Citrus Heights, CA

An interim leadership opportunity is available for a licensed pharmacist to serve as Director of Pharmacy and Pharmacist-in-Charge at two facilities. This contract position requires California pharmacist licensure and is set to begin by October 5th, lasting approximately 8 to 12 weeks, covering 40 hours per week.

Location: Citrus Heights, CA
Schedule:

• Monday to Friday, 7:30 AM - 7:00 PM with on-call duties when the pharmacy is closed
• Potential weekend coverage Saturdays, 8:00 AM - 1:00 PM

Responsibilities Include:

• Managing pharmacy operations for two behavioral health facilities specializing in psychiatric care
• Overseeing staffing and scheduling for both sites, including 2 technicians and 3 PRN pharmacists
• Leading committee work and ensuring smooth operational continuity during Director of Pharmacy leave
• Supporting the team with order entry via the HCS system (training provided)
• Collaborating with tech support available weekdays from 8:00 AM to 2:30 PM
• Maintaining compliance with regulations in preparation for the next Joint Commission visit scheduled for 2025

Qualifications / Desired Experience:

• Valid California pharmacist licensure
• Strong management experience, preferably with hospital setting exposure (psych or behavioral health experience beneficial but not mandatory)
• Ability to lead effectively across multiple locations and ensure high-quality pharmacy services
• Familiarity with order entry systems; willingness to learn HCS is a plus

This contract provides a critical leadership role supporting two facilities with a 125 licensed bed capacity and an average daily census of 120.
