An opportunity is available for an Interim Pharmacist in Charge/Director of Pharmacy to manage pharmacy operations within an inpatient behavioral health setting. This role is based in Council Bluffs, IA, starting May 18 and continuing until the permanent position is filled. The assignment involves a weekday schedule with Monday through Friday shifts of 6 hours per day.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee daily pharmacy operations ensuring compliance with regulatory standards
- Manage medication distribution and repackaging processes, including use of Milt/Medi-dose or HCL systems
- Support automated medication machines by loading drugs and generating restock reports
- Lead pharmacy staff and coordinate with healthcare teams to optimize patient medication therapy
- Maintain accurate records and enforce safety protocols in accordance with pharmacy practices
Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Active Iowa pharmacist license
- Experience with Omnicell automated dispensing systems preferred
- Familiarity with repackaging medications using Milt/Medi-dose or HCL systems is desirable
- Basic knowledge of loading medications into automated machines and running restock reports
- Strong leadership and communication skills for team oversight and interdisciplinary collaboration
