An opportunity is available for an Interim Director of Pharmacy to oversee operations at a healthcare facility with a licensed bed capacity of 71 and an average daily census of 25-30 patients. This contract position begins on September 14th and is expected to last approximately 13 weeks until a permanent hire is made. The role requires an Ohio Pharmacist license and offers a Monday through Friday schedule from 7:30 am to 4:30 pm, with no weekend or on-call responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage pharmacy scheduling, staffing, and training programs.
- Oversee Coumadin Clinic nurse scheduling and coverage.
- Administer USP competency training for staff.
- Lead and participate in various committee meetings including safety, QAPI, budget, strategic sourcing, stroke, and sepsis.
- Serve as lead for the Pharmacy and Therapeutics (P&T) Committee.
- Monitor drug diversion and consolidate related data.
- Manage drug shortages and coordinate timely responses.
- Oversee IT initiatives related to EPIC updates and drug library management.
- Supervise sterile compounding training and competency assessments (without direct compounding duties).
- Ensure compliance with 340B State of Ohio reporting requirements.
- Facilitate upcoming Baxter Pump drug library build and Pyxis server upgrade.
- Coordinate USP 797/800 competency testing beginning in late October.
- Support the transition from QS1 to BestRx for outpatient prescriptions, targeted for early next year.
Desired Qualifications and Experience:
- Current pharmacist licensure in Ohio is mandatory.
- Proven leadership experience within acute care pharmacy settings.
- Familiarity with EPIC and pharmacy IT systems.
- Strong organizational skills managing multiple teams including pharmacists, technicians, and nursing staff.
- Excellent communication and committee leadership abilities.
- Experience with compliance requirements such as USP standards, 340B program regulations, and drug inventory controls.
