This role involves serving as the Interim Director of Pharmacy at a regional hospital in Eddyville, Iowa, providing leadership and management to a small inpatient pharmacy team. The position requires an experienced pharmacist licensed in Iowa with strong skills in pharmacy operations, staff supervision, and financial oversight within a hospital setting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage pharmacy operations, including a team of 3 pharmacists and 4 technicians
  • Provide staffing leadership, ensuring adequate coverage and addressing personnel needs
  • Participate in limited on-call duties and attend management meetings
  • Oversee compliance with sterile compounding standards (USP 797 and 800)
  • Utilize Meditech for order entry and Omnicell automation systems
  • Stabilize pharmacy operations while assisting with recruitment efforts for permanent staffing
  • Represent the staffing agency and collaborate with hospital administration

Qualifications/Desired Experience:

  • Active Iowa pharmacist license required
  • Proven inpatient pharmacy management experience
  • Knowledge of sterile compounding protocols and regulatory standards
  • Familiarity with Meditech order entry and Omnicell automation preferred
  • Strong leadership and communication skills
  • Ability to adapt to a small team environment and support operational stability

Schedule/Hours:

  • Monday through Friday during business hours, with flexible scheduling to support staff coverage
  • Limited on-call responsibilities

This is a contract opportunity expected to last 3+ months to provide interim coverage during the recruitment of a permanent Director of Pharmacy. Professional dress is expected in the workplace. Comprehensive training will be provided to ensure success in the role.
