A behavioral hospital in Lynchburg, VA is seeking a licensed Pharmacist to serve as the working Pharmacist-in-Charge (PIC) in a newly established facility. This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to a joint venture between two major health organizations by leading pharmacy operations in a focused behavioral health setting. This is a contract position with the potential to transition to permanent employment.

Responsibilities:

  • Dispense medications accurately and efficiently to patients.
  • Consult with physicians and nursing staff regarding medication therapies and patient care.
  • Oversee pharmacy technician activities and ensure compliance with protocols.
  • Manage restocking and maintenance of Automated Dispensing Cabinets (ADCs).
  • Ensure adherence to regulatory standards and hospital policies.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes.

Qualifications and Desired Experience:

  • Active Virginia Pharmacist license required.
  • Previous experience as a Pharmacist-in-Charge preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of behavioral health pharmacy practices.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and handle multiple priorities effectively.
  • Familiarity with ADC management and pharmacy operational procedures.

Schedule:

  • Monday through Friday
  • Day shifts

Location:

  • Lynchburg, VA
