An immediate opening is available for a Director of Pharmacy serving as a working Pharmacist-in-Charge (PIC) at a small behavioral hospital in Lynchburg, VA. This position supports a new facility established through a joint venture between two prominent healthcare organizations and offers a unique chance to lead and innovate pharmacy services in a developing behavioral health setting. The role is contract-based, starting ASAP, with an initial commitment of 13 weeks and potential to transition into a permanent position.

Location:

  • Lynchburg, VA

Schedule/Hours:

  • Monday through Friday
  • Day shifts

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform hands-on dispensing of medications ensuring accuracy and safety
  • Consult regularly with physicians and nursing staff to optimize patient care and medication therapies
  • Oversee pharmacy technician activities, ensuring proper workflow and compliance
  • Manage restocking and maintenance of Automated Dispensing Cabinets (ADCs)
  • Maintain regulatory compliance and support new pharmacy operations in the behavioral health setting

Qualifications and Desired Experience:

  • Licensed Pharmacist with current credentials to practice in Virginia
  • Previous experience in behavioral health or hospital pharmacy preferred
  • Proven leadership skills with experience as a PIC or Director of Pharmacy
  • Ability to work independently while managing a small team
  • Strong communication skills for interdisciplinary collaboration
