An opening is available for a Director of Pharmacy (DOP) to serve as the working Pharmacist-in-Charge at a small behavioral hospital in Lynchburg, VA. This newly established facility represents a joint venture between major healthcare organizations. The role calls for an experienced pharmacy leader ready to start as soon as possible to cover a current vacancy.
Location: Lynchburg, VA
Job Type: Contract (13 weeks minimum, potential for temp-to-hire)
Schedule:
- Monday through Friday
- Day shifts
Key Responsibilities:
- Function as the working Pharmacist-in-Charge, managing daily pharmacy operations
- Dispense medications accurately and efficiently
- Provide consulting support to physicians and nursing staff
- Oversee pharmacy technicians and their activities
- Manage restocking of automated dispensing cabinets (ADCs)
- Ensure compliance with pharmacy regulations and hospital policies
Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Licensed Pharmacist with prior experience as a Director of Pharmacy or working PIC
- Strong background in behavioral or hospital pharmacy settings preferred
- Proven leadership and organizational skills
- Ability to collaborate effectively with clinical teams
- Commitment to patient safety and quality pharmacy practices
