This opportunity seeks an experienced Director of Pharmacy to provide leadership and oversight in a behavioral health facility. The position involves serving as the Pharmacist in Charge (PIC) and managing pharmacy operations to ensure effective medication use and patient safety.

Location: Byron Center, MI
Facility: Behavioral Health Facility
Position Type: Contract (approximately 8+ weeks coverage)
Schedule:

  • Monday-Friday: 9:00 am – 3:00 pm
  • Saturday (remote): 9:00 am – 11:00 am

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as Director of Pharmacy and Pharmacist in Charge, overseeing pharmacy functions and compliance
  • Verify medication orders accurately and efficiently
  • Manage inventory, including ordering and maintenance of stock levels
  • Utilize Order Entry System (HCS) and Site Automation System (Omnicell) for daily operations
  • Ensure compliance with regulations and facility policies in a behavioral health setting

Qualifications:

  • Active Michigan Pharmacist license in good standing is required
  • Experience with HCS order entry system preferred
  • Familiarity with Omnicell site automation strongly preferred
  • Previous leadership experience preferred, especially in behavioral health pharmacy
  • Ability to work independently without pharmacy technician support

Additional Details:

  • Average daily census: 40 patients
  • Dress code: purple scrubs
  • Nearest Airport: Gerald Ford International Airport (GRR)

This contract position provides an excellent opportunity to apply leadership skills in a specialized behavioral health environment with a targeted schedule allowing for focused work hours. Coverage is needed starting ASAP through mid-May and until a permanent Director of Pharmacy is hired.
