Lead pharmacy operations at a behavioral health facility focused on delivering timely, high-quality medication services within a well-established and Joint Commission-accredited environment. This temporary leadership role requires a licensed North Carolina pharmacist with inpatient pharmacy and management expertise, ideally complemented by behavioral health and Joint Commission experience.
Position Details:
- Location: Greensboro, NC
- Job Type: Contract
- Duration: Training begins February 25th with outgoing Director of Pharmacy; coverage through May 29th or until permanent placement
- Schedule:
- Monday to Friday, 7:30 AM – 4:30 PM plus on-call (typically light)
- Weekend hours 8:00 AM – 2:30 PM if not covered by part-time pharmacist
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee pharmacy staffing—dispensing medications, verifying orders in the HCS system, and checking technician work
- Facilitate orientation and training of pharmacy team members, including new automation tools like Omnicell
- Manage formulary activities including Pharmacy & Therapeutics (P&T) committees and antimicrobial stewardship
- Develop and update policies to maintain compliance with regulatory standards and optimize safety
- Ensure timely medication availability for patients and maintain staffing coverage within budget constraints
- Support technicians with dispensing, ordering, and repackaging; note technicians do not perform order entry
Preferred Qualifications:
- Current North Carolina pharmacist license required
- Experience with inpatient pharmacy management and behavioral health settings
- Familiarity with Joint Commission standards
- Exposure to HCS order entry system and Omnicell automation advantageous but training provided
- Strong leadership abilities with a focus on cost and staff management
Pharmacy Team Size:
- 2 part-time pharmacists (0.5 FTE)
- 1 full-time technician (30 hours/week)
- 3 part-time technicians
