Director of Pharmacy - Hedrick, IA

Take on a leadership role as the Interim Director of Pharmacy at a well-established regional medical center in Hedrick, Iowa. This contract position is designed for an experienced pharmacy professional ready to provide strategic oversight and day-to-day management of a small but dynamic inpatient pharmacy team. The role offers the opportunity to stabilize operations during a transitional period and support recruitment efforts for a permanent hire.

Key Responsibilities:

• Serve as the leader and primary point of contact for pharmacy operations, taking on the role of Pharmacist-in-Charge (PIC)
• Manage staffing and scheduling for a team of 3 pharmacists and 4 technicians, with flexibility to assist as needed
• Oversee financial aspects and participate in administrative meetings
• Ensure compliance with inpatient pharmacy regulations, including sterile compounding in adherence to USP 797 and 800 standards
• Utilize Meditech for order entry and Omnicell for site automation
• Support quality improvement initiatives and maintain professional standards within the pharmacy
• Provide limited on-call coverage as necessary

Qualifications and Desired Experience:

• Current Iowa pharmacist license
• Proven inpatient pharmacy and management experience, preferably in a smaller healthcare setting
• Familiarity with Meditech order entry system and Omnicell automation
• Experience with sterile compounding standards (USP 797 and 800)
• Strong leadership and communication skills to guide and support pharmacy staff effectively
• Ability to adapt and work flexible hours during business days, Monday through Friday
