Oversee pharmacy operations in a behavioral health setting as the Director of Pharmacy in High Point, NC. This contract opportunity starts with training alongside the outgoing Director of Pharmacy on February 25th, extending through May 29th or until a permanent hire is made. The role requires strong inpatient pharmacy management skills, familiarity with behavioral health practices, and experience with Joint Commission standards is highly preferred.

Key responsibilities include managing pharmacy staff to ensure efficient dispensing, verifying technician work, and maintaining medication stock using the HCS order entry system (training provided if needed). You will also assist with Omnicell automation management, contribute to P&T committee activities, antimicrobial stewardship, and policy development or updates. Maintaining timely medication delivery, adequate staffing coverage, and budget controls on drug and personnel costs are critical.

Coverage hours are Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. with on-call duties that are typically light. Weekend shifts (8:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.) may be required if part-time pharmacist coverage is unavailable.

Qualifications:

  • Current North Carolina pharmacist license
  • Experience in inpatient pharmacy and management
  • Preferred: behavioral health and Joint Commission experience
  • Familiarity with HCS order entry system and Omnicell automation is a plus, though training is available

Additional details:

  • Staff includes 2 part-time pharmacists and 4 pharmacy technicians with some turnover challenges
  • Site has recently implemented Omnicell automation (January 2024)
  • Training/orientation for 4-5 days before official start
  • If no local candidates, travel expense consideration will be discussed
