Director of Pharmacy in Independence, MO

A leadership opportunity is available for a Director of Pharmacy to oversee operations at a newly opening behavioral health hospital in Independence, Missouri. This contract position requires an experienced pharmacist to manage pharmacy services in an inpatient behavioral setting, ensuring smooth startup and ongoing regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities include:

• Leading the pharmacy opening and setup, including medication ordering and coordinating with nursing staff
• Managing medication stocking and pharmacy automation using Omnicell systems
• Developing and implementing pharmacy policies and procedures
• Providing on-call coverage on weekends and standard coverage Monday through Friday, 8am to 5pm
• Communicating progress and updates regularly via weekly calls and emails

Preferred qualifications and experience:

• Active Missouri pharmacist license in good standing
• Experience in inpatient behavioral pharmacy settings
• Familiarity with HCS or Cerner order entry systems
• Proficiency in Omnicell automation preferred
• Strong organizational skills and adaptability to work in a dynamic, start-up environment
• Ability to work independently with no technician support on site

Location: Independence, Missouri

This contract role starts no later than May 4th to cover pharmacy operations until a permanent director is hired. Flexible scheduling and strong leadership will be critical to successfully launching this new facility.
