An opportunity is available for a Director of Pharmacy with strong inpatient and leadership experience to support a behavioral health facility in Indianapolis, IN. This role requires possession of an Indiana pharmacist license in good standing and offers a chance to lead pharmacy operations in a setting focused on patient care and regulatory excellence.

Location: Indianapolis, IN
Job Type: Contract (3/30/26 – 6/30/26 or until permanent placement)
Schedule:

  • Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM, plus on-call coverage
  • Weekend on-call as needed

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage pharmacy operations including verifying medication orders and dispensing medications, including controlled substances
  • Oversee and maintain Pyxis automated dispensing cabinet systems, ensuring smooth daily operations
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements, including Joint Commission, CMS, and Indiana state board of pharmacy standards
  • Handle staffing responsibilities and coordinate pharmacy personnel
  • Serve as Pharmacy in Charge (PIC) if required
  • Collaborate with leadership and support staff for seamless pharmacy services
  • Utilize and manage order entry systems (HCS) and provide training where applicable

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Valid Indiana pharmacist license in good standing
  • Demonstrated inpatient pharmacy experience
  • Proven leadership capabilities in pharmacy settings
  • Familiarity with Pyxis and HCS order entry systems preferred; training available
  • Experience working in behavioral health pharmacy is a plus

Additional Information:

  • Facility is currently Joint Commission window-open with support available from previous director
  • No pharmacy technician support on-site
  • Dress code is business casual or scrubs
  • Local candidates preferred; travel expenses may be considered
