Lead pharmacy operations as the Director of Pharmacy and Pharmacist in Charge (PIC) for a behavioral health facility located in Summit, NJ. This contract opportunity spans 6-8 weeks, requiring a dedicated professional to oversee pharmacy services, ensure regulatory compliance, and support a collaborative team environment.
Responsibilities include:
- Serving as the PIC with a minimum commitment of 35 hours per week
- Managing daily pharmacy operations including order verification and inventory oversight
- Participating in meetings related to pharmacy services and policy updates
- Maintaining effective communication with staff and supporting on-call coverage Monday through Friday, with weekend on-call responsibilities
- Collecting and analyzing data to assist in Pharmacy and Therapeutics (P&T) activities
- Supporting and relieving existing pharmacy staff to foster a smooth workflow
- Utilizing HCS order entry system and leveraging Omnicell automation experience when possible
- Upholding compliance with facility regulations following recent state and Joint Commission visits
Qualifications / Desired Experience:
- Licensed Pharmacist in New Jersey
- Experience with HCS order entry systems
- Familiarity with Omnicell automation preferred
- Background in behavioral health pharmacy services
- Knowledge of healthcare policies, especially related to pharmacy management
- Previous experience fulfilling PIC responsibilities with a strong commitment to leadership and operational excellence
Schedule / Hours:
- Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM with on-call duties after each shift
- Weekend on-call coverage only
This role operates within a pharmacy staffed by one full-time technician and several per-diem and part-time technicians and pharmacists, ensuring technical support for filling Omnicell and orders. Professional appearance with clean, neat attire and closed-toe shoes is expected.
Located near Newark Airport, the facility provides on-site training and a supportive work environment focused on high-quality behavioral health care.
