Lead pharmacy operations at a behavioral health hospital, overseeing daily functions as the Director of Pharmacy and Pharmacist-in-Charge (PIC). This contract opportunity begins mid-August and extends until a permanent candidate is hired. The role requires strong management skills, hospital pharmacy experience, and the ability to maintain an efficient, compliant pharmacy environment specializing in psychiatric care.

Location: New Lenox, IL, with convenient access to a major airport (ORD).

Schedule:

  • Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM
  • On-call availability 7 days a week (weekends covered by part-time pharmacist)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage pharmacy staffing, scheduling, and participation in meetings
  • Oversee daily pharmacy operations ensuring compliance and safety
  • Maintain pharmacy inventory and automation systems, including Omnicell
  • Provide clear communication through email updates and monthly one-on-one meetings with the account manager
  • Apply basic financial oversight to pharmacy operations
  • Collaborate with a small team consisting of one part-time pharmacist and one technician supporting Omnicell restocking
  • Ensure seamless order entry system usage (training provided)
  • Uphold business/office casual dress code standards

Qualifications:

  • Illinois Pharmacist licensure (required)
  • Hospital pharmacy experience, especially within psychiatric settings
  • Minimum of 3 years’ management experience preferred
  • Familiarity with pharmacy automation (Omnicell preferred)
  • Excellent communication skills and financial acumen
