Director of Pharmacy | Joliet, Illinois

Oversee pharmacy operations at a behavioral hospital specializing in psychiatric care as the Director of Pharmacy and Pharmacist-in-Charge. This key leadership role requires a licensed Illinois pharmacist with hospital experience and a minimum of three years in management, ready to ensure excellent pharmacy services in a supportive, team-oriented environment.

Location: New Lenox, IL
Schedule:

• Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM
• On-call coverage seven days a week (weekends supported by a part-time pharmacist)

Responsibilities include:

• Managing staffing, scheduling, and team meetings
• Maintaining pharmacy operations focused on psychiatric care
• Utilizing and training on the order entry system
• Overseeing Omnicell automation system functions and restocking
• Liaising regularly with management via emails and monthly one-on-one meetings
• Applying solid communication skills and basic financial knowledge to optimize pharmacy performance

The team consists of one part-time pharmacist and one pharmacy technician, supported in routine automation tasks. No sterile compounding is involved, allowing focus on operational leadership and quality patient care.

This contract assignment starts August 17th and continues until a permanent candidate is hired. Onsite training will be provided to ensure a smooth transition and ongoing support. Business casual attire is expected.

Candidates should hold an Illinois Pharmacist license and preferably have experience working in psychiatric hospital settings. The nearest major airport is ORD for convenient travel.
