An opportunity is available for an experienced Director of Pharmacy to lead the pharmacy services at a newly opening behavioral hospital. This contract position offers the chance to establish and develop pharmacy operations from the ground up in an inpatient behavioral health setting.

Location: Independence, Missouri (Kansas City area)
Contract Duration: Starting April 27th to no later than May 4th, continuing until a permanent hire is appointed
Schedule:

  • Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM, plus on-call duties
  • Weekend on-call coverage only

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the opening and operational setup of the hospital pharmacy department
  • Collaborate with nursing staff to order medications and ensure efficient stocking of Omnicell automation systems
  • Develop and implement pharmacy policies and procedures
  • Manage medication distribution and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements
  • Communicate progress and updates regularly through weekly calls and emails
  • Provide on-call support ensuring consistent pharmaceutical coverage

Preferred Experience and Qualifications:

  • Licensed pharmacist in good standing with the Missouri Board of Pharmacy
  • Proven background as a Director of Pharmacy or Pharmacist in Charge (PIC) within inpatient behavioral health settings
  • Familiarity with order entry systems such as HCS or Cerner highly desirable
  • Experience working with Omnicell automation preferred
  • Ability to work independently without on-site tech support
  • Flexibility and adaptability, particularly in a start-up environment
