Lead the pharmacy operations at a new behavioral health facility in Independence, Missouri, as Director of Pharmacy (DOP)/Pharmacist in Charge (PIC). This contract role offers the unique opportunity to establish and shape the pharmacy services for an inpatient behavioral hospital.

The position requires a Missouri-licensed pharmacist in good standing with experience in inpatient and behavioral health pharmacy. You will play a pivotal role in opening the hospital’s pharmacy, working closely with nursing staff to order medications, stock Omnicell automated dispensing machines, and develop essential policies and procedures. Familiarity with HCS or Cerner order entry systems and Omnicell automation is preferred to ensure smooth integration and efficient workflow.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the pharmacy setup and operations for an inpatient behavioral hospital
  • Collaborate with nursing staff to order and manage medications
  • Stock and maintain automated dispensing systems (Omnicell)
  • Develop and implement pharmacy policies and procedures
  • Provide on-call coverage during weekends and support weekdays 8am–5pm
  • Communicate progress with the facility via weekly calls and emails

Desired Qualifications:

  • Active Missouri pharmacist license in good standing
  • Experience in inpatient behavioral health pharmacy
  • Proficiency with HCS or Cerner order entry systems (preferred)
  • Experience with Omnicell automation (preferred)
  • Strong organizational skills with flexibility to manage the unique challenges of a new facility opening

Schedule:

  • Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm plus weekday on-call
  • Weekend on-call coverage only
