An experienced pharmacist is sought to serve as Director of Inpatient Pharmacy Services in a Missouri healthcare facility. This contract role, requiring Missouri pharmacist licensure and Medication Therapy Services certification, involves acting as Pharmacist in Charge (PIC) and overseeing inpatient pharmacy operations. Coverage is needed approximately from early July through October, with two weeks of onsite training provided prior to maternity leave coverage.

Work Schedule:

  • Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM
  • No on-call duties required; however, the Director will serve as a key resource for pharmacy staff questions and concerns during working hours.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the inpatient pharmacy department, directing a team of 4.5 pharmacist FTEs and 6 technician FTEs.
  • Develop and manage schedules for pharmacists and technicians.
  • Collaborate with the Buyer to resolve medication supply chain issues.
  • Oversee the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee, including agenda creation, meeting facilitation, and implementation of initiatives.
  • Participate in monthly medical staff committees and COPD readmission reduction meetings.
  • Conduct department meetings and daily huddles on weekdays.
  • Manage ordering of controlled substances twice weekly and oversee payroll and Pyxis access users.
  • Assume responsibility as Pharmacist in Charge (PIC).
  • Perform sterile compounding as needed during staff call-ins.

Preferred Experience and Skills:

  • Proven inpatient pharmacy experience.
  • Familiarity with Meditech Expanse, particularly drug dictionary management.
  • Ability to coordinate pharmacy activities across diverse clinical specialties, including OB (excluding NICU/high-risk pregnancy), orthopedics, pediatrics (non-PICU), oncology, cardiology, pulmonology, neurology, adult behavioral health, endocrinology, podiatry, general surgery, rheumatology, and wound care.

  • Training provided onsite to ensure smooth transition prior to coverage.
