Oversee pharmacy operations and lead a specialized behavioral health pharmacy team as the Director of Pharmacy in Lexington, NC. This contract position offers an opportunity to manage an established site during a transitional period, starting with a training phase alongside the outgoing director from February 25th and continuing through May 29th or until a permanent candidate is placed.

Responsibilities include staffing the pharmacy, ensuring accurate dispensing, verifying orders via the Health Care Systems (HCS) order entry system, and assisting with Omnicell stocking. The role involves participation in Pharmacy & Therapeutics (P&T) committees, antimicrobial stewardship, and policy development or updates. Maintaining timely medication access for patients, managing staffing levels within budget, and controlling drug costs are key priorities. You'll have the support of a pharmacy team comprising two part-time pharmacists and a mix of full- and part-time technicians.

Coverage hours run Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with on-call duties that are typically light. Weekend coverage from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. may be necessary if part-time pharmacist coverage is unavailable. A North Carolina pharmacist license is required. Behavioral health and Joint Commission experience are preferred, along with inpatient pharmacy management skills. Familiarity with HCS and Omnicell automation systems is a plus but not mandatory as training will be provided.

This role requires a minimum of 4-5 days of orientation with the outgoing director. Candidates local to the area are preferred; if not available, travel expenses will be reviewed.

Qualifications and Desired Experience:

  • Licensed North Carolina pharmacist
  • Inpatient pharmacy management experience
  • Behavioral health pharmacy knowledge preferred
  • Joint Commission experience desired
  • Experience with HCS order entry system and Omnicell automation a plus
