Director of Pharmacy | Long Beach, California

An established healthcare organization in Central California is seeking an experienced Interim Director of Pharmacy to lead a multi-campus inpatient pharmacy department through a transitional period. This pivotal role requires a dynamic leader to oversee day-to-day operations, manage staff across several hospital locations, ensure regulatory compliance, and advance strategic pharmacy initiatives.

Location: Central California
Setting: Acute Care / Inpatient Hospital
Job Type: Contract (approximately 3–6 months)
Start Date: Flexible, with preference for an earlier start

Key Responsibilities:

• Direct daily inpatient pharmacy operations across multiple campuses
• Provide leadership and support to pharmacy personnel
• Maintain compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards
• Oversee departmental budgeting and resource allocation
• Drive ongoing operational and strategic projects to successful completion
• Collaborate with executive and clinical leadership to align pharmacy initiatives with organizational goals

Qualifications:

• Proven experience as Director of Pharmacy in an acute care hospital setting
• Comprehensive knowledge of hospital pharmacy operations, regulatory requirements, and compliance
• Track record of leading teams through organizational change and operational initiatives
• Ability to quickly establish credibility and deliver results in an interim leadership role
• Experience with major hospital EHR/pharmacy systems is preferred
