Director of Pharmacy - Lynchburg, Virginia

A critical opening exists for a Pharmacist serving as the working Pharmacist-in-Charge (PIC) at a newly established behavioral hospital in Lynchburg, VA. This role requires a proactive individual ready to provide leadership and pharmacy services in a collaborative healthcare environment.

This hospital is a recent joint venture, offering a unique opportunity to influence pharmacy operations from the ground up. The assignment begins immediately, extending for at least 13 weeks with potential to transition into a permanent role.

Location:

• Lynchburg, VA

Schedule/Hours:

• Monday to Friday, day shifts

Key Responsibilities:

• Dispense medications accurately and efficiently
• Serve as the working PIC, overseeing pharmacy operations
• Consult regularly with physicians and nursing staff to ensure optimal patient care
• Supervise pharmacy technicians in their daily tasks
• Manage restocking of Automated Dispensing Cabinets (ADCs)
• Maintain compliance with regulatory standards and hospital policies

Desired Experience and Qualifications:

• Licensure as a Pharmacist with authorization to practice in the state of Virginia
• Previous experience as a PIC, preferably in a hospital or behavioral health setting
• Strong understanding of medication management and pharmacy operations
• Excellent communication skills to collaborate with medical staff
• Ability to oversee pharmacy technicians and ensure accurate dispensing procedures
