Director of Pharmacy - Madison Heights, VA

A leadership opportunity is available for a Director of Pharmacy (DOP) working as the Pharmacist-in-Charge (PIC) at a newly established behavioral hospital in Lynchburg, VA. This role serves a critical function in launching pharmacy services at this joint venture hospital and requires hands-on involvement in daily pharmacy operations. The contract assignment begins ASAP and has an initial duration of 13 weeks, with potential to transition to permanent employment.

Responsibilities include:

• Dispensing medications and ensuring accuracy in administration
• Consulting with physicians, nurses, and other clinical staff to optimize pharmacotherapy
• Overseeing pharmacy technicians and supporting their workflow
• Managing restocking and inventory of Automated Dispensing Cabinets (ADCs)
• Maintaining compliance with regulatory standards and protocols

Desired qualifications:

• Current Virginia Pharmacist license and eligibility to practice as a PIC
• Experience working in behavioral health or hospital pharmacy settings
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to supervise and coordinate pharmacy staff
• Excellent communication skills to collaborate with multidisciplinary clinical teams
• Detail-oriented with a commitment to patient safety and quality assurance

Schedule: Monday through Friday, daytime hours
